The tax authorities are increasingly reviewing the existence of proper accounting as part of tax audits. The principles issued by the Federal Ministry of Finance for this purpose, the “Principles for the proper keeping and storage of books, records and documents in electronic form and for data access” (GoBD for short), regulate requirements for IT-supported accounting. Among other things, they stipulate that every company must comply with the so-called procedural documentation.
